There is a growing use in the satellite industry of the frequencies above Ku & K band called Ka band. Many of the rules are very similar to Ku band reception except Ka band spans a much bigger range & suffers higher rain fade. This wider range is being increasingly used by different broadcasters for broadcast feeds/ data / internet & dth tv etc.. as better techniques are being developed to improve rain fade and signal focus. A single, affordable LNB to cover the whole range is not yet readily available and may not be for some time if ever but we have some more affordable solutions.

/ external frequency reference. Losses/ snr may be higher at frequency extremes & may require larger reflector for
parity. 9e Ka beams cannot be received too far outside thier designated footprints regardless of the use of extra large
antennae due to the adjacent footprint's re-use of the same frequencies blocking effects.
